The auto-refractometer

The auto optometer, also known as an auto-refractor, is a device that helps with the automated assessment of refraction. This is an alternative method of measuring the refraction error to the conventional refractive technique. Optometry or refractometry is the term for the procedure. Different auto-refractors have different functions and are based on different underlying principles. In pediatric ophthalmology and for people with disabilities who require spectacles, optometrists and ophthalmologists use the following indications to perform subjective refraction: myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia, prescriptions for spectacles, and prescriptions for contact lenses.
