Types of glaucoma and their symptoms

Open-Angle Glaucoma (Most Common Type)

  • Gradual loss of peripheral (side) vision
  • Tunnel vision in advanced stages
  • No pain or early warning signs

Angle-Closure Glaucoma (Medical Emergency)

  • Sudden, severe eye pain
  • Blurred vision
  • Halos around lights
  • Headache
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Red eyes

Normal-Tension Glaucoma

  • Similar to open-angle glaucoma but with normal eye pressure
  • Gradual vision loss

Congenital Glaucoma (In Infants)

  • Excessive tearing
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Cloudy cornea
  • Enlarged eyes
